Silent Wings

The Silent Wings Museum in Lubbock, TX is a beautiful testament to one of the many tactics utilized in WWII. Take time to watch at least the first part of the movie that shows how difficult it was to get this project off the ground. Slight pun intended with this glider program.

These planes not only carried troops but equipment too. Of special note, the pilot and co-pilot were a part of the troops since there was no taking off after dropping of the payload.

Pieces of canvas were torn off the planes, some even had written location/remembrances.

Level of wings. (There are wings for purchase in the gift shop too) The green tags are the training locations for the glider program.

We CAN DO IT! One of the war time posters on display at the museum. She is beautifully serious!img_0442

The far wall of the glider room has a great flag display.
